Melbourne Cup

Melbourne Cup Day is always a big day for Waverley Distillery. Did you know that our Assyrain Rhubarb gin is named after the 1882 Melbourne Cup Winner The Assyrian. The rhubarb in this gin is grown in the same paddock that The Assyrian is buried in at the property “Waverley” near Oatlands in Tasmania. Our great, great grand father C.S Agnew purchased The Assyrian on the day it won the Melbourne Cup on this day 139 years ago.
